What we collect, why, and how to get it back

Facialesthe Survey is a small private organization in British Columbia. Our handling of personal information follows the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Who is responsible

Anjali Rao acts as our privacy officer. You can reach her at [email protected], by phone on +1 (604) 555-0158, or by post at Unit 210, 55 Water Street, Vancouver BC V6B 1A1, Canada. Mark letters “Privacy” so they skip the general pile.

The short version

Reading this site requires nothing from you. There is no visitor counting here, and no ad code or share widget either. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to type into our note form, plus the routine records any web server keeps.

What we hold and what for

Notes sent through the form

When you send a note we keep the name you give, your reply address, the tray you chose, your message, the time it arrived and a shortened one-way fingerprint of your network address. We use these to read and answer your note and to keep automated junk out of the tray. The note is also forwarded to our studio mailbox.

Repeat-sending check

To stop floods of automated notes, the server keeps a list of fingerprinted network addresses and send times. Each entry is dropped automatically after twenty minutes.

Server records

Our hosting provider logs requests in the usual way: address, time, the page asked for and the browser type. These help with security and fault finding, are not combined with form notes and are rotated out by the host within thirty days.

Your own device

A session cookie and a single browser storage entry are described in full in the cookie ledger.

Consent

By sending a note you agree that we may use what you wrote to reply. You may withdraw that consent at any time by writing to us, and we will delete the note unless we have to keep it to resolve a complaint you have raised.

How long we keep notes

Notes are cleared twelve months after our last reply in the conversation. Game suggestions that we act on are kept as a title and a date only, without your details.

Who else sees it

Only the three of us read your notes. We share nothing with developers, platforms or marketers, and nobody pays us for anyone’s details, ever. Our web host and email provider process data on our behalf under contract. Some of their systems may sit outside Canada, in which case your information can be reached by authorities there under local law.

Leaving our site

When you press a button to open a game, you arrive at CrazyGames, which runs under its own privacy policy and cookie choices. We receive nothing personal back from that visit.

Children

The site is suitable for all ages, but we ask anyone under 13 to have a parent or carer send notes for them. If we learn that a child has sent us personal details, we delete them after replying to the adult.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We answer within thirty days and charge nothing. We may need to confirm that a request really comes from the person concerned, usually by replying to the address on file.

Complaints

Tell us first and we will try to put things right. Still unhappy with our reply? You may take it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, which oversees PIPA, or to the federal Privacy Commissioner, whose office handles PIPEDA complaints.

Updates

When this statement changes we revise the effective date at the top and note the change in the press log on the home page. Material changes to how form notes are used will not apply to notes sent before the change.
